Philadelphia, PA – On August 1st #Foodiechats, a Twitter foodie community, hosted their weekly Monday night LIVE #Foodiechats event at Moonshine Philly on E Moyamesing Avenue in South Philly.
The night began with several appetizers including roasted pobiano and garlic hummus with pita bread for dipping, crispy calamari topped with fresh made pico de gallo over a bed of arugula and a side of spicy aioli, breaded and deep fried short rib balls served with a creamy horseradish sauce and extra gravy, and a mozzarella and tomato salad over pistachio pesto drizzled with a balsamic reduction. Immediately following appetizers, we indulged in a fluffy gnocchi covered in a light creamy pesto topped with blackened chicken bursting with spicy flavor, the most tender and perfectly cooked red wine braised short rib, which I literally cut with a fork, served atop bow tie macaroni and cheese with chopped grilled asparagus, and finishing with a sweet and tangy teriyaki salmon over velvety vegetable risotto.
The night turned out to be a great success with newfound friends, more social media followers, lots of laughter, and a dining experience that only validates Philly’s reputation for being a city of great food.
